The finals of the Stoiximan Basket League between Olympiakos and Panathinaikos AKTOR have created several tensions between the two teams and the Association of Hellenic Basketball Players issued a statement asking the “eternal” to keep their rivalry only on the court, as the tension does injustice to the greatness of the teams.
The PSAKK announcement in detail:
“Already two weeks ago, the “eternals” represented us at F4, the top club competition in Europe, and another trophy came to Greece.
The European champion Panathinaikos and the Greek champion Olympiacos are the best advertising of Greek basketball.
All eyes – understandably – are focused on the games between each other in the finals of the championship.
Their rivalry should be on the floor ONLY! Even when pulses have hit… red, EVERYBODY’s behavior should be worldly.
And when we say EVERYONE, we mean EVERYONE. First we the players, the coaches, the members of the competition departments, the administrations and the fans.
We want to enjoy basketball and protect it because many families live from it and also big investments are made.
We wish the final of the championship not to make… noise. EVERYONE should be careful and not let the tension do injustice to the greatness of the teams.
PSAKK requests that even more serious measures be taken after the finals, that everything goes smoothly and that we ONLY think about the pre-Olympic tournament and the difficult effort of our national team.
