Stefanidis: “I didn’t even know if I was going to jump, the magic wand only exists in my mind”

by

Katerina Stefanidis emphasized that there is no magic wand in reality, she believes that her preparation for the event played a role, she described herself as a competitive athlete, she focused on the change in the poles and good psychology and she believes that she has made the appropriate preparation for the Olympics Races.

Analytically: “I have the magic wand in my mind. I started jogging in the warm-up and was in a lot of pain. I have a problem, which luckily started recently, so we have done the training that was needed.

Just now with one day difference between the qualifier and the final it was hard. I mean, I got to the point where I don’t know if I’m going to jump today. I set two records this year, so it was a good day for me. Now I feel like I’m just a competitive athlete. The truth is that our preparation has gone well. My races had come out a little so-so, but we were still searching with my poles.

Today I put in two poles that I had not touched before. In other words, there was a progress in terms of the poles that was important and had to happen. But, it happened because it was a big match and I was also in that mentality, probably in another match it wouldn’t have happened. And that’s why I said that for me this race was important, I think it can give me a boost for the rest of the season. From now on we are looking higher than 4.73″.

About the Olympians: “The European was a little early. We often start our season at the beginning of June. Nevertheless, I had purposely done two or three races that I usually do one in May, so that we would be prepared for here. I’m glad I did them because I don’t know if I would have gotten to this point.”

In fact, at the end he also said a poem: “Let’s go to the awarding with P with P or with the magura, it doesn’t matter”.
