Van Weert has been playing in our country since the summer of 2021, when he left Denmark and Aalborg to join the Bulletwhile after one season and 18 goals in 37 appearances with the Magnesia team, he joined AEK, with which he had 7 goals in 24 games and was released after the end of this season.

PAE Atromitos is pleased to announce the acquisition of Tom Van Weert on a free transfer, signing a two-year contract.
Tom Van Weert was born on June 7, 1990 and has been playing for AEK for the last two years.
In our country, he competed for the first time in the 2021/22 season with the Volos jersey and managed to emerge as the top scorer of the Stoiximan Super League, scoring 17 goals in 31 appearances, an achievement that earned him his transfer.
He started his professional career in January 2009 in Den Bosch where he stayed until the summer of 2014, scoring 45 goals in 118 appearances. This was followed by a move to Excelsior until 2016, achieving even more impressive numbers, with 31 goals in 70 appearances.
This was followed by a two-year spell in Groningen in which he scored 18 goals and in 2018 he played for the first time outside the Netherlands, competing in Denmark with Aalborg, where he stayed for three years, scoring a total of 31 goals in 91 appearances..

From the first moment that Atromitos approached me, I was very happy about this development and it really was a very easy decision for me to say that I will come to Atromitos, especially since I also spoke with our new coach, Pablo Garcia .
There was indeed interest from other groups from Greece and abroad, but when I was spoken to by Atromitos, the Technical Director, Mr. Angelopoulos, they explained to me the project, the goals and what they want to achieve here, there was no particular thought. I know the story, I know the perspective and really the approach, it gave me a feeling that I wanted to say yes.
In all the years I have been in Greece, I have learned everything about Atromitos. He has reached Europe many times, he is now a firm force in the country, who always deserves to be in the highest places.
Only if you see the team’s training centre, which was an important element for me because I will be here every day, you understand the demands that are there. These are facilities that every footballer is happy to have and work with. I am hoping for a year that will be better than last year which means our goal should be top six for the playoofs.
