Another transfer for Athlos Orestiada!
The Evros side have made their sixth addition ahead of the new season by announcing the signing of 29-year-old international Sloane winger Sergej Drobnic.

“The administration of TAA Athlos Orestiada announces the start of the cooperation with the international Slovenian athlete, Sergej Drobnic for the Men’s Volleyleague season 2024-25.
Born on February 25, 1995 in Kocevje, Ljubljana, Sergej Drobnic with a height of 1.96m. competes as a winger and comes from an athletic volleyball family. Inspired by his father, a former passer and now coach of a local club, he started playing volleyball at the age of 12 in Mok Kocevj and since then, the net has been an integral part of his life to this day.
In his playing career, Drobnić, apart from the pitches of Slovenia, has also played in Italy, Austria and Finland, as well as in important European inter-club competitions. Our new acquisition, in addition to his valuable experience, stands out for his technical skills and combativeness in his game.
In the Slovenian national team, the newly acquired ace has been competing since 2012, with greater success, in addition to his participation in European and World championships, the 7th place in the U21 World Championship in 2015. At the same time, Drobnić competed for many years as an international of Slovenia and in beach volleyball.
The 29-year-old winger, in his first official statements as an Athlos athlete, told athlosorestiadas.gr: “I am very happy to compete with my new club in the Greek league. I’m looking forward to new experiences and new challenges ahead, hoping for a successful season. For us, the big “bet” of the year is to finish in the top five of the Volley League, in order to ensure the exit to Europe for the first time. I know some things about the Greek league, as two players of the Slovenian national team compete in Olympiakos, but also from my compatriots who have competed in the past. So I know that the League of Greece is a quality and very competitive league. I can’t wait to meet my new teammates and the rest of the Athlos staff and I hope that we will have the dynamic support of our friends in every match in Orestiada”.
