Eriksen returns to play in an official game eight months after cardiac arrest at Euros

Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen, 29, returned to competitive play eight months after suffering a cardiac arrest during a Euro 2021 match.

This Sunday (26), the player entered the second half of the 2-0 defeat of Brentford, his team, against Newcastle, in a duel valid for the Premier League – Brazilian Joelinton and Willock scored the goals of the visiting team.

Eriksen took the field in place of Mathias Jensen, 7 minutes into the final stage, and remained on the field until the end of the match. It uses an internal cardioverter defibrillator, capable of detecting arrhythmias and treating them through electrical stimuli.

In June 2021, in the confrontation with Finland, for the Euro group stage, Christian Eriksen suddenly fell on the pitch and had to receive medical attention. The athlete was soon attended by paramedics and professionals from the Danish national team.

Referred to a Copenhagen hospital, where the game was played, the midfielder underwent surgery for the placement of a cardiac defibrillator.

Recovered from the scare, Eriksen was released from the doctors to return to the pitch and chose to return to England, where he played from 2013 to 2020, wearing the Tottenham shirt.

The player dreams of playing in the World Cup in Qatar, which takes place at the end of this year.
