Positive start to Copa America for Venezuela and Mexico!
In the premiere of Group B, Venezuela may have been behind the score of 10-man Ecuador, but with two goals in the second half, they made the big turnaround and got their first “three points” in the tournament.
Things started badly for Ecuador in the match after just 22′ Ener Valencia faced a straight red card leaving his team with one player less. However, in the 40th minute, Felix Sanchez’s team took the lead when Sarmiento, after a Paes shot, took the rebound to open the scoring.
In the second half came the counterattack from the side of Venezuela. After two very good chances, from Rodon and Matsis, Fernando Batista’s team made the big upset thanks to goals from Cadiz (64′) and Beyo (74′) for the final 2-1.
Tough win in Houston and for Mexico of the main team Orbelin Pineda. The ace of AEK was excellent in the 68′ minutes he played against Jamaica, creating several cracks in the opposing defense.
After a bad first half, the goal came in the 69th minute. It was an action by Romo who passed to Arteaga and he with a terrific shot from outside the area beat Walte for 1-0 which was the final score.
