A coach with a lot of experience, with titles won in Switzerland and Germany and with performances from European competitions, as well as National team competitions, takes over the technical leadership of HERACLES for the 2024-25 season. The reason for Petar Aleksic, who will lead the new season of our team’s effort to achieve its goals.

The new coach of our team was born on November 2, 1968 in the city of Trebinje, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and due to his long-term presence in Switzerland, he acquired Swiss citizenship.

He began his career on the benches in 2004, as a member of the technical staff of the Austrian BBC Feldkirch Baskets, where he remained until the end of the 2005-2006 season.

He was first coach of the Swiss Union Neuchatel in the 2006-2007 season and the following year (2007-2008) he moved to Alba Berlin, as Luka Pavicevic’s assistant, celebrating winning the German championship.

He continued with the German team in the 2008–2009 season, before returning to Switzerland in the 2010–2011 campaign again for Union Neuchatel.

A two-year period (2011-2013) followed at the also Swiss Monthey, while in 2012 he coached the Swiss U20 National Team.

From 2013 to 2023 he was on the bench of the most successful team in Switzerland, Friborg Olympic, with which he won six championships (2016, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023), five cups (2016, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023), three League Cups (2018, 2020, 2022) and four Super Cups (2016, 2020, 2021, 2022). From 2013 to 2016 he was the coach of the Swiss men’s national team.

He was named best coach in Switzerland eight times (2011, 2012, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023).

During his days at Friborg Olympic, the Swiss team participated in the Basketball Champions League and the FIBA ​​Europe Cup.

As a player he had a career spanning 17 years, during which he played for FMP Zeleznik (Serbia), Zalaegerszegi Torna Egylet Kosarlabda Klub (Hungary), Union Neuchatel (Switzerland), BBC Nyon (Switzerland), Leotar Trebinje (Bosnia), NAP Novi Sad (Serbia), KK Zagreb (Croatia) and JUG Dubrovnik (Croatia).
