Achilleas Bassis became a PAOK volleyball player on Tuesday. The Amateurs have announced the signing of the 30-year-old international center back for next year to strengthen in the block and help the Super Cup holders claim all the domestic titles next season as well.
Last season Bassis played for Milos, with whom he reached the final of the Cup and the “8” of the CEV Cup.
In detail, the announcement:
“PAOK and the men’s volleyball department of PAOK announce the start of cooperation with the athlete, Achillea Bassis, for the 2024-2025 season.
Born on 13/03/1994, Achilleas Basis plays as a central player and is 198cm tall.
He took his first steps in volleyball from Panhellenic in the 2010-11 season. He remained at Panhellenic until the 2014-15 season, gaining valuable experience.
He then followed a three-year stint (2015-18) with Piraeus National, celebrating promotion to the Men’s Volley League in the 2016-17 season, while also competing in the senior division in the 2017-18 season.
The following season (2018-19), he competed with the OFI jersey, celebrating yet another promotion to the men’s Volley League, standing out, in fact, with his performances.
The following two years (2019-21), he played with the jersey of Kifissia, making very good appearances there in the men’s Volley League.
He remained a resident of Athens for the next two years (2021-23), playing in the jersey of Panathinaikos. In these two years he won a championship, a Super Cup and two League Cups.
Last season (2023-24) he played in the Milos shirt, contributing the most with his performances to the good progress of the Nea Smyrni team in the league, Cup and CEV Cup.
On the start of cooperation with PAOK, Achilleas Bassi stated on the club’s official website, acpaok.gr: “I am very excited that from the new year I will be a member of the PAOK team. The team’s goals are fully aligned with mine and I am ready to give 100% of myself to achieve them. We expect the world to be on our side and become the seventh player in our team in the new year.”
