Rusuvuori threw out the disappointing Tsitsipas

by

Stefanos Tsitsipas disappointed and was left out of Wimbledon. The 25-year-old Greek star lost 1-3 sets (6-7, 6-7, 6-3, 3-6) to the Finnish Emil Roussouvoori, in the second round of the British Grand Slam, he was a victim of surprise and essentially “farewelled” early on a tournament that had nurtured hopes of distinction.

The 25-year-old Scandinavian, who is ranked No. 187 on the ATP, won in 2 hours and 46′, taking advantage of the Greek ace’s poor returns. Tsitsipas didn’t do anything right in the first two sets, he came stronger in the third, which he won, but he couldn’t stop his superiority in this match.

Now, Rusuvuori will face in the fourth round the Frenchman Giovanni Embesi-Perricard (No. 58), who was on the main board as a lucky looser.

The Scandinavian led 2-1 in the first set. Tsitsipas had a lot of problems in his returns and at 5-4 he managed to get his first break and finally send the first set to the tiebreak. There, he twice got back the mini-breaks, but lost his serve for the third time at 6-6 and the Finn made it 1-0.

The two athletes each lost a break point in the second set and were sent to the tie break again. Tsitsipas’ three lost set points and the Greek ace’s three errors helped Roussouvouri capitalize on Tsitsipas’ third double fault to make it 2-0.

Stefanos led 4-1 in the fourth set and reached the 2-1 set. But his returns and a poor service game in the sixth game of the fourth set made it 4-0 for the Finn. Rusuvuori took the balls at 5-3, served and didn’t lose a point afterwards for the 3-1 set.
