Predrag Vegin will be part of the Olympiakos handball team in the new season. The Amateur have announced the signing of the 32-year-old Serbian international right winger for next year to strengthen the flanks of the attack and challenge for all the domestic titles and distinction in Europe.
For the last three years, Vegin has been competing in Croatian Nexe.
In detail, the announcement:
“OLYMPIACOS SFP announces the start of its collaboration with Predrag Vegin. The Serbian international right winger (born 17/12/1992, 1.96m) has signed his new contract and joins the roster of the club’s handball team.
Left-hander Predrag Vegin has plenty of experience at the top level, with spells in his native Serbia as well as in Spain, France, United Arab Emirates, Israel, North Macedonia, Poland and Croatia. The Serbian international has ‘performances’ from all European club competitions with appearances in the EHF Champions League as well.
In the last three years (2021-24), he played in Croatia and Nexe and scored 127 goals.
In fact, in the 2021-22 season he scored 63 goals and led the Croatian team to the Final-4 of the European League (fourth place).
Vegin has been a key member of the Serbian national team since 2016, with participation in the top competitions, while recently he was present at both the 2023 World Cup and the 2024 European Championship.
Predrag Vegin’s statement: “After three amazing seasons at Nexe, it’s time to start a new chapter, which will be at Olympiakos. I am very happy that the next stop of my career is Olympiacos. I had many proposals from various clubs, but I immediately made a decision when the coach, Zeljko Babic, called me.
He told me all about the club, ambitions and more. Olympiacos is a huge name in sports in general! Handball is on the rise, too, and I’m happy to be part of this huge club.”
