Official: Glyfada is the seat of Panionio in the Basket League

In “Makis Liugas” of Glyfada, he will definitely compete Panionios in his return to the Basketball League. The “blue and red” couldn’t continue to play at the home of Milos (“Croisos Persis”), which was hosting them in the Elite League but did not meet the conditions for the big division. The goal of the club is to launch the construction of the closed one on Artakis Street, so that the team can return to its base as soon as possible.

“KAE PANIONIOS informs its fans and the basketball world that the D.A.K Glyfada “Makis Liugas” will be the headquarters of our team in the Basket League.

The relevant agreement was reached after a constructive and fruitful dialogue with the Mayor of Glyfada, Mr. Georgios Papanikolaou.

On our return to the Basket League and the “big salons” of the Greek league and given the serious problems we are facing with the course of work at the place where our physical headquarters are (and we hope that at some point, soon, we will be able to we make use of, as we are entitled to) our wish was to compete in a closed gym that would suit the history and the glamor of PANIONIO.

In a modern gym, which will provide comfort to our players and safety to the fans until our “home” is ready at the historic point of the junction of Artakis and Ethnikis Stegis.

The only choice from the first moment was D.A.K. “Makis Liougas” and for this reason we would like to thank the Mayor of Glyfada, Mr. Georgios Papanikolaou, who from the first moment positively saw the possibility of cooperation, giving great importance to the harmonious coexistence of the Association with the citizens.

At the same time we are given a first-class opportunity to congratulate him for the many things he has done for his city, especially in terms of sports infrastructure.

KAE PANIONIOS, throughout its participation in the Basket League, is committed to contributing to making a stadium-jewel like the one we receive shine more.

Respect for the stadium, its workers, citizens and those active in Glyfada is a given from our side.

Also, PANIONIOS will develop intense social action both in its natural headquarters, Nea Smyrni and in Glyfada, promoting the values ​​of the spirit of fandom and fair play, as mandated by the Principles of our Historical Association.

We thank those who contributed to the completion of the agreement, first of all Mr. Papanikolaou who listened to our vision and believed in the dynamics and principles of PANIONIO.

We thank the Mayor of Nea Smyrni, Mr. Giorgos Koutelakis, who has considered the weight of his responsibility and did everything he could to help PANIONIO. We will always be by his side, for the progress of the work and the completion – within a reasonable period of time – of D.G. New Smyrna.

The understanding of the Mayor of Glyfada provided the solution and we are grateful to him, but we must point out that in no case do we wish for “nothing more permanent than temporary”.

PANIONIOS must SOON get its own closed in Nea Smyrni and our FIGHT will be PERMANENT. Until then, DAK Glyfada will be our home and we will take good care of it.
