Panathinaikos A.O.: “United we can make history, divided we risk being destroyed”

The administration of Panathinaikos A.O. met in an extraordinary meeting and comes forward about what is happening in the Panathenaic family and asks for prudence and calmness.

Panathinaikos A.O. and its members have been characterized since 1908 by bonds of respect and solidarity and throughout time despite any confrontations that the Panathenaic logic and green dignity presided over.

Unfortunately of late there has been a relentless “written” attack on persons associated with the Association, who have their own distinct offering.

It is characteristic that even the former General Secretary retired from the ranks of the Association. Mr. Vassilis Pavlopoulos when he was managed in an indecent manner.

Obviously there is the freedom of the written word that anyone can post in any way they wish, but from the moment that natural persons and omissions within the Association are affected in a vulgar way, Panathinaikos must protect the people who are within its ranks, whatever position they hold.

After an extraordinary Board of Directors the following was announced:

A) Any member or athlete or agent or salaried employee of the Association publicly utters abusive language towards another green member, then a matter will be raised in the Board of Directors. and the corresponding sanctions will be decided.

B) Regulation 25 of the Panathinaikos Statute will be fully implemented and with great rigor, which explicitly states that in case of violations by members, athletes and staff, all the prescribed procedures will be followed

In reference to the President of PAE Panathinaikos, Mr. Yiannis Alafouzos, who has been by the side of Erasitechnis from the first moment, since the day the existing administration took over.

He has contributed large sums of money every year to make Mana tou Locho grow and succeed in winning titles in all sports every year, breaking records and having world champions and Olympians in its ranks.

Most of the revenues of Panathinaikos A.O. it is due to PAE Panathinaikos and personally to Mr. Yiannis Alafouzos who established the membership card, the friend card and offered large sponsorships. (We want to believe that the membership card and fan card are temporarily suspended).

With these actions approximately 40% of the annual budget is covered.

Without his own initiative to actively help, the Association would not be able to raise its level and become a star within and outside the borders.

So all that has been achieved in the last four years, the records of titles, participations, medals, membership records, creation of new divisions, launch in team and individual sports in the same period of time, bear the signature of Mr. Yiannis Alafouzou.

At the same time, the Vice President of Panathinaikos A.O. Mr. Dimitris Vranopoulos covers every year very large sums and of course there are many more sponsors who stand by the effort we are making.

From here on, there is the support of the people over time, but it must be announced that members, season tickets and tickets make up about 10% of the budget that we have reached the Association.

As can be understood, the insults towards the face of Mr. Yiannis Alafouzou as well as the President Mr. Panagiotis Malakate and the Vice President Mr. Dimitris Vranopoulos are not appropriate for the Association.

Mistakes were made and will be made, criticism is necessary, however, unacceptable characterizations have no place at Panathinaikos, especially for people who contribute daily and keep the Association alive in their own way.
