EFOEPA has issued the General Notice of Table Tennis Games for the upcoming season and the most important change is that “after the completion of the two rounds, there is a competitive ‘playoff’, where the teams compete in a new group of one round, keeping the score of the two first rounds”.
For the final stage, of course, the distinction remains that the first four teams of the regular season continue for positions 1-4 so that the champion team of the category and the next four for positions 5-8 will emerge.
Last season, when E.F.O.E.P.A. brought back the playoffs, they did not count the results of the two rounds, only the ranking of the teams, followed by a mini tableau with cross semi-finals (1-4, 2-3), “small” and big final. In general, the Federation presents other changes, giving additional incentives to the athletes.
The Federation has highlighted the most important changes in the general announcement in relation to the 2023-2024 season. Are the folowing:
“Change in the system of conducting the Playoffs (B3.3): After the completion of the two rounds, a competitive “Play Off” follows, where they compete in a new group of one round, keeping the score of the first 2 rounds.
Reduced tolls on the peripheral islands (A6).
In the Doubles and Mixed events at the P.P. Qualified candidates have the right to declare with non-qualified or non-declared individuals (C3).
Increasing the number of qualifiers to the Panhellenic Championships from the regional championships (C4.3).
Change in the way of filling vacancies in the P.P. resulting from non-declaration of participation by the qualified sportsmen and women of the Regional Championships (C4.14).
It is allowed to change an athlete from the composition declared before the start of the match only in the P.P. Pampaidon – Pangorasidon (C5.1).
Full qualification to the Regional championships, to the standards of the development championships. Progressive knock out with classification of all positions for all participants (even for the 3rd 4th of the groups) (D5)”.
In addition, we mention that, as last year, foreign athletes to participate in the playoffs or playoffs in any category must have participated in at least 50% of the category’s matches in the two-round phase. In the composition of each team this year there must also be at least one athlete with the right to participate in the representative groups of Greece, which, as is known, changes from the year 2025-2026 with an obligation for two Greeks in the triads of team competitions.
The same way of conducting every team match in championships and local Cups (from 4-0 to 4-3 to end every match and at the end, if necessary, to double), but for the Greek Cup the E.F.O.Ep .A. has a different system: The winner will be the team that first wins three of the five matches in a series of matches A1-B2, A2-B1, A3-B3, A1-B1, double.
On Tuesday, September 10, the Federation will conduct the draws for the 2nd National and local categories, and on Tuesday, September 17, for A1 and A2. We remind you that from this year the clubs can also declare B teams in the inter-club competitions and the announcements mention the procedure.
