Mendiliber: “We want to be dominant in our games – We need to improve things”

Olympiacos faced the Nottingham Forest in a friendly match between them (3-4). The coach of the “red and whites” Jose Luis Mendilibar spoke after the game and referred to, among others, Velde-Yaremchuk.



“We try from the first moment to be in control, to impose our pace and our game. Sometimes it has come out, today Nottingham showed better than us, with better physical condition and better prepared. We conceded three goals from set pieces, which has not happened before and there are things we need to improve. In general, our goal is to be in control during the match and not take it at the end like today”he initially said.

For Velde-Yaremchuk who changed the match with their entry: “It wasn’t just these two changes, it was the five we made. I don’t know what’s wrong and at 4-1 we kind of fell asleep, but then we woke up and in the end we improved, while we had the chance to equalize in the last minutes. We want to be more active in the game, we did it in the last 20 minutes and in the next match we hope to do it for the whole 90 minutes.”

For the domestic titles he wants to win with Olympiakos: “Our first goal is of course to win the championship, because two years have passed without us winning it and this year, which marks 100 years, it would be very important to achieve it. This is the first goal, we will do everything for the Cup but also for a good course in Europe”.
