Kaselakis two years in Karditsa

The next stage of his career was found by Leonidas Kaselakis. The Greek forward was announced by Karditsa, in which he will play for the next two years.

The announcement in detail:

“AS Karditsas JAPONIKI announces the addition of Leonidas Kaselakis to our team’s roster for the next two seasons.

The Greek forward with the very important career, is a move for our team with great value, as an athlete with huge experience, the mentality of the winner and performances from the highest level, joins its potential in view of the competitive championship of Stoiximan Basket League.

Leonidas Kaselakis was born in Athens on June 1, 1990 and with a height of 2.02 m he plays in both forward positions. He started playing basketball in Niki Amarousiou and in 2007 at the age of 17, he joined Ilysiakos, with whom he played for two seasons in the A2 National Team, winning promotion to A1 in 2009.

Now in A1, he continued with the Elysian shirt for three seasons and in 2012 he moved to Thessaloniki on behalf of PAOK, while he made his first European appearances in the Eurocup. In 2014 he transferred to AEK and in 2015 he joined Nea Kifisia, with whose shirt he was named the most improved player of the A1 National Team in the 2015-16 season.

In the summer of 2016, he took the first step outside of Greece, signing for Astana, with whom he won the Kazakhstan double for two consecutive years. Return to Greece in 2018, this time for Prometheus Patras, with whom he competed for two seasons in the Greek championship and in Europe (BCL and Eurocup).

In 2020 he moved from Patras to Athens and OAKA, to wear the shirt of Panathinaikos in the two years 2020-2022 in the domestic competitions and the Euroleague, winning the double (Championship and Greek Cup) in 2021. In 2022 he signed for two years in Peristeri, with which he reached the final of the Greek Cup (2023) and 3rd place in the F4 of the BCL in April 2024.

Leonidas Kaselakis with his consistency, combativeness and value has built a very important career with distinctions and titles, in 15 consecutive seasons at the professional level from 2009 to 2024. In the A1 National Championship, he has 13 seasons with seven different teams , with 385 games and 2,145 points. He has also played in 123 games in European competitions (59 games in the Euroleague, 26 games in the Eurocup and 38 games in the BCL) scoring 599 points.

Apart from club level, the 34-year-old forward has capped 130 times for the National Team at all levels, scoring 1,039 points. 20 of these participations are with the National Men’s National Team, while in his trophy case there are two gold medals (in the Pan-European Junior Championships in 2008 and in the Pan-European Youth Championships in 2009) and two silver medals (in the World Junior Championships in 2009 and in the European Youth Championships in 2010).
