Apollon Smyrnis “farewelled” six

by

Finally, six executives from the men’s polo team of Apollon Smyrna. The “light brigade” announced the end of its collaboration with Dimitris Miteloudis, Vassilis Kavousanos, Angelos Goniotakis, Konstantinos Mokkas, Manolis Tsacheilidis and Yannis Tottis, thanking them for their offer.

In detail, the announcement:

“The water polo department of GS Apollon Smyrna feels the need to thank Dimitris Miteloudis, Vassilis Kavousanos, Angelos Goniotakis, Konstantinos Mokkas, Manolis Tsacheilidis and Yiannis Tottis for their contribution.

Coach Dimitris Miteloudis is leaving Apollo after five years of great service, initially as a partner of Yiannis Katrouzanakis and from November 2020 as a partner-coach of Nikos Deligiannis, having made a valuable contribution to the great successes of the team, culminating, of course, in winning the LEN Challenger Cup in April 2023!

In the same summer, this year 2019, Vassilis Kavusanos, still a young child, came to Apollo from OFI, just before he turned 18. He leaves as a player who was much loved by everyone in the ‘light brigade’ both for his character and his playing value, having given his best during his five-year stay. Valuable ‘cog’ and he of all successes, ‘cashed in’ in the summer of 2022 for his excellent performances with his first call-up to the preparation of the Men’s National Team!

A year later than Vassilis, in the summer of 2020, Angelos Goniotakis became a member of the Apollo family. An excellent character and a great athlete, Angelos has been a protagonist in the marches of the “light brigade” for the last four years, developing bonds of love with the “blue and white”. Undoubtedly, his offer is great both inside and outside the pool!

The same is true for the… stalwart in defense Konstantinos Mokkas. You may not have seen him speak often on the apollonwaterpolo camera, as he avoided statements like… damn the frankincense, but he ‘talked’ in the pool, being unapproachable in defense and a key contributor to the successes that the previous ones signed as well.

Finally, Manolis Tsacheilidis and Yiannis Tottis may have competed for just one year in Apollon Smyrnis (last season), but they also stood out both for their competitive performance and skills, as well as for their character!

Thank you all for your contribution on and off the water and we wish you every success in the future.”
