Ioannidis: “It would be unthinkable not to qualify for Europe – qualification is incredibly important for everyone”

Panathinaikos prevailed 2-0 against Lance in the crowded and… burning Olympic stadium for its playoffs Conference League and, overturning the 2-1 loss from the first match, he deservedly got the “ticket” for the League phase of the competition.

O Fotis Ioannidiswho was decisive in the outcome of the pair with the goal he scored in the first match, stood after the match on the enormous value of the qualification and repeated that it would be unthinkable if the “greens” did not continue in the Europe.

In detail what he said:

“It’s a big qualification, because Lance’s level is quite high. Fortunately, we managed to cope, get a victory and give our team the qualification”.

What does this qualification mean for the team?

“As I have said before, it is not possible for the team not to participate in Europe. It would be unthinkable for me and for my teammates of course. We did it and I think it’s incredibly important for all of us.”

Did the crowd and all that was created tonight at OAKA give you a boost?

“Of course, it was the most important thing for us! We managed to get people into the game. Because with the crowd entering the game, the opponent would also understand that they have no hope here.”

Were you scared at any point when Lance came forward towards the end?

“I have confidence in my team. There is no fear, just a worry. That we must be ready to face every danger.”

We saw an amazing second half from Panathinaikos, much better than the first.

“We had some difficulties in the first one. We managed to change some things in the second and I think the team was much better.”

Many considered Lance the favorite to even make it to the end of the course. Does this mean anything?

“It’s too early. As I said before, this team is big, has a great roster, quality. We managed to beat her, so anything is possible.”
