Draws for Panathinaikos! Before the celebrations for the terrible qualification against Lance have even stopped, the “clover” learns (30/08, 15:30, Cosmote Sport1) its opponents in the League Phase Conference League.
It is reminded that from this year the format of the event is changing (as it also happens in Champions League and Europa League).
With the new format, the 36 Conference League teams they will be in a single group and play 6 matches (and not 8 as in the other two competitions) in the league stage (formerly the group stage). They will no longer face three opponents twice (home and away) but will face 6 different teams, playing 3 matches at home and 3 away. Panathinaikos, therefore, will learn in the draw the 6 teams it will face, one from each capacity group.
The top eight teams of the unified standings will automatically advance to the round of 16, while the teams finishing 9th to 24th will compete in double knockout play-off matches to secure their place in the round of 16 competition. Teams finishing 25th to 36th are disqualified.
In the knockout stage, teams between 9th and 16th place will face a team that finished between 17th and 24thwith the second match at home. The eight teams that win the knockout stage play-offs will advance to the round of 16, where they will each face one of the top eight teams, who will have already qualified for the round of 16.
From the round of 16 onwards, the competition will continue to follow the existing knockout format, leading to the neutral venue of the final, chosen by UEFA.
