Malamatenia Papadimitriou suffered back-to-back defeats in World Table Tennis Feeder matches in Oman on Friday, where in both the women’s singles and doubles, the results could have been in her favour. In the singles, which is all the more important in the quest for world ranking points, the 20-year-old champion was beaten in five sets at ’32’ by an Indian with a peculiar style of play.

A hurdler from the same country stopped her and her Indian partner, Swastika Ghos, in four sets in the round of 16 doubles.

At the Oman WTT Feeder the women’s singles had a direct scoreboard of ’32’. Papadimitriou (No. 433 in the world rankings this week) faced India’s Radapriya Goel (No. 520) in the first round, who plays with a backhand rubber combo. The current champion of Greece in the Young women’s singles game, she was already ahead with a 2-1 set, but in the end she lost with 3-2.

He was finding solutions, but at the same time the difficulty was also visible in some low pushed balls, as well as in “erasing” aggressive hits from the opponent, always with the “tooth”. The evolution: 8-11, 11-9, 11-4, 4-11 and 8-11.

On Friday afternoon, Papadimitriou and Ghos faced India’s Anoussa Koutubale/Radapriya Goel in the round of 16. Goel’s teammate had a different style of play, while the Greco-Indian duo had a left-handed and right-handed combination in attack. In the balanced match, Papadimitriou/Gos won 3-1 sets (8-11, 7-11, 11-8, 9-11).
