Giorgos Vovoras expressed the opinion that the two additions to the Panathinaikos roster, that is, Yurtseven and Brown, are a perfect fit in his statements to Action 24. The former coach of the greens also referred to Olympiakos, pointing out that the return of Vezenkov gives enormous strength to the group.
His statements in detail:
For Panathinaikos:
“Panathinaikos had a dream year. A year that no one expected at the start of the season to end with two titles, especially as the playoffs unfolded.
The organization had started planning since the previous season with the renewals of important players such as Grigonis. They had already diagnosed what elements they were looking for for the players they needed and I think that the two very high-quality choices of Yurtseven and Lorenzo Brown perfectly fit Ataman’s playing philosophy.
Perhaps we have to go back to the distant 2009 to remember the two Greek teams among the big favorites for the Final Four. They may be the two with the highest percentages and ambitions to win the title.
History has shown that you can no longer build a new team every summer. What Panathinaikos did was very difficult, but in order to be a Final Four team and be competitive, you have to build and Olympiacos has been building for several years.”
For Olympiakos:
“Certainly the return of Vezenkov gives enormous strength to the Olympiakos organization. A player who knows what Olympiacos and Euroleague are and will not need time to adapt.
Despite the difficult time for both Evans himself and the team, Olympiacos supported the player because they believe in him and he has many elements that fit the Olympiacos playing philosophy. With the addition of the others, they are one of the big favorites for the Final Four”
