San Antonio of OPAP Unileague will live the dream of Europe

by

The champions of the Panhellenic Final Phase of the OPAP Unileague secured their right to participate in the Pan-European 7×7 event that will take place in Tbilisi, Georgia under the auspices of the World Socca / Mini Football Federation. This is an important event, in which a total of 16 teams from 15 European countries will participate and San Antonio will be the representative of our country.

This tournament is a new challenge for the best mini soccer team in Greece and if they manage to reach the 4th place in the tournament they will be rewarded with big cash prizes, which increases the interest and competition of the event.

A few days before the champions left for Georgia, we spoke with the captain and founder of San Antonio, Nicolas Lambai regarding the goals of the team and how special it is to represent their country.

What is the composition of the team that will represent San Antonio in the tournament?

Our team will be represented by 9 football players and 3 staff members. Unfortunately, due to other commitments, not all of our players will be available, but the rest are ready to give their best. San Antonio is a family, and that sense of unity is what gives us strength. We will go down to Tbilisi with a roster made up of “unsung heroes”, players who support the team throughout the OPAP Unileague season. Although some of our players, such as Armando, Bimai, Hatzis, Sino, and Floros, may be missing, I am sure of those who will be there. We will play our game without fear, with perhaps a few changes in strategy, but always with the goal of winning.

How special is it to play in a European competition as a captain and represent Greece?

Playing in an international tournament as the captain of my team is something very special. It is a great honor for me to represent Greece and our team. But I want to emphasize that this group is made up of all of us. We all have the same passion and commitment. For Greece and mini football, we will give everything we have. It is our honor and our duty to strive for the best possible result.

How important is the support of San Antonio’s friends, who will watch the games from Greece?

The support of our friends is invaluable. San Antonio friends are always there for us, even when they can’t be present. I am so happy that the San Antonio family is so big and tight-knit. All of us, from the players to the fans, are one big family. Especially this year, with the excellent season we had, their support was decisive. Even if some will not be able to be with us in Tbilisi, I know they will be watching and supporting us from Greece. For them we play and for them we will continue to give everything.
