A resident of Merseyside for – at least – two more years, he wants to remain Virgil van Dijk!
The 33-year-old central defender of Liverpool, who in recent days has been in the representative group of the Netherlands for the Nations League games, revealed with his statements that he does not want to change anything in his professional career until the 2026 World Cup.
“In both teams (Liverpool and Holland) I am still Van Dijk, the great leader! And I definitely want to stay that way for the next two years. I’m human, I have feelings. You start thinking about all sorts of things. Especially right after a game like the elimination (by England) in the last minute. After the race I was so disappointed and full of emotion. Maybe it happened like it was my last international match. I had doubts that night and hinted at it.
It was a very long and intense season last year, including the Euros. I focus so much on the team and my teammates. I always try to talk and am constantly busy with everyone. I have had this responsibility for years. As a captain, it’s the team first and yourself second.” he said among other things.
It is recalled that the captain of the “reds” is bound by a contract with Arne Slott’s team until summer of 2025, as a result of which – understandably – it has already attracted the interest of many teams, mainly from Saudi Arabia.
However, he himself clarified the situation, dispelling any rumors that existed, clearly emphasizing that in his mind there is only the renewal with Liverpool.
