by

Playing poor defense from the second quarter onwards, Peristeri lost 58-70 to FMP in Belgrade in the BCL premiere and started with the “left” the attempt to be in the F4 of the competition again this year.

Giorgos Limniatis’ men battled in the first quarter, but at the end of the half they were down -10 and, with the Serbian three-pointers in the second half, down to -17, unable to come back afterwards.

Leading the Serbs were Stojanovic with 18, Rebec with 13, Novak with 12 and Lazarević with 11 points. For the “blue and yellow”, Harris saved with 21 and Carberry with 13 points.

The match

Starring Carberry, Peristeri maintained a +2 at the start of the match in an “open” match and with a lot of misfires on both sides in the first few minutes. Novak’s three-pointer made it 11-8 for the Serbians, who found the solutions in the Greek racket and kept +2 to +4 in that period with Tasic as the protagonist and finished the first period at 18-14.

With a 4-0 run at the start of the second period, FMP took a 23-16 lead on their Serbs in a poor defense of the “blue and yellow” inside the basket and no solutions on offense, plus many missed rebounds by the players of Giorgos Limniatis. Rebets brought +8 to Peristeri’s attempt to reduce. Carberry trailed 27-22, but Stojanovic’s personal 5-0 run made it 32-22 at halftime.

Stojanovic started again with a personal 5-0 run in the third period for the home team +15. Lazarević supported him offensively and helped with a personal 4-0 run of his own to get the Serbs to +17. Norris’ 3-pointer cut it to -14 and Harris’ 3-0 run of his own cut it to 43-32, but Limniatis’ poor perimeter defense led to a 6-0 FMP run led by Stojanovic and 49-32 in completion of thirty minutes.

Kuzmic made it 51-35 at the start of the fourth period for FMP and Novak +15 for the Serbs. Tasic took the situation into his own hands and made it 55-41, but a 4-0 run by the “blue and yellow” reduced it to 55-45. Back-to-back 3-pointers by Novak made it 61-47 for FMP after there was no player to mark him from the perimeter. Saranovic made it 63-47 and the difference was between +14 and +17 for the Serbs. Rebets led 67-54, Peristeri responded with a 4-0 run for 67-58 to finish the match at 70-58.
