The 2/2 at Champions League did the improbable Aston Villa punishing the chatterbox Bayern with 1-0 at Villa Park. THE John Duran was Unai Emery’s golden change, scoring in the 79th minute from a set piece, with Manuel Neuer to bear a great deal of responsibility after he inexplicably went many meters away from home.
In the 22nd minute, “Villa Park” rose to their feet with Pau Torres scoring from close range, taking advantage of the inertia in the Bayern defense. The goal, however, was disallowed for offside by Diego Carlos early in the period. The Bavarians took the lead in the 29th minute, but Gnabry ignored Kane in a better position and squandered the chance. Martins with an impressive intervention stopped Olisse’s shot in the 39th minute, with Bayern having the possession and the best moments throughout the first half.
Vincent Kompany brought on Musiala for Coman at the start of the second half. Bayern continued to dominate possession, but kept running into… a wall. And as if that wasn’t enough, in the 79th minute from a deep ball at the back of the defense, Duran, who had come on as a substitute for Watkins in the 70th minute, opened the scoring. The Colombian took advantage of Neuer’s inexplicable exit and scored 1-0 with a long-range shot. Bayern pushed for an equalizer but Martinez stopped Gnabry’s effort in the 91st minute and another from Kane in the 96th minute in impressive fashion.
