Panathinaikos painted green the first derby of the “eternal” for A1 women’s basketball, winning 62-55 over Olympiakos at “Pavlos Giannakopoulos”.
While initially players and coaches of the “red and white” did not make statements to ERT, as a sign of protest and having issued an announcement earlier in which they spoke of an unprecedented biased broadcast of the match.
Later, the coach of Olympiakos, Thanos Niklashe spoke about the very difficult conditions faced by his female players in the indoor arena of Leoforos, revealing that the foreigners were shockedasking him why there is such hatred.
“Bad game offensively, unfortunately for us, with bad numbers and a lot of easy misses. Certainly, the pitch conditions also affected us and we did not respond. The foreigners were shocked by what they saw. They asked me why there is such hatred, they asked me about so much smoke in the stadium. These are not conditions for such big matches”he initially reported and went on to say:
“Regarding the competitive part, unfortunately, we didn’t show nerve and aggression up front and that cost us. Defensively, we held a game to 62 points, took a lot of shots from opponents and missed some rebounds that cost us. It takes time and work to find the chemistry we want. It’s still mid-October. We are a division that has brought many successes and three championships in a row! We will do the same this year, we will fight for the titles as a team! The leveling is an element outside our team and we will always fight positively and all together for the best”.
