THE Paul Pogba spoke to Sky Sports about the difficult times he went through when he tested positive for doping.
The Frenchman emphasized that he has never taken any drug to improve his performance, while he then referred to the reduction of his sentence, but also the support of his wife.
“I should never have been suspended for so long. I have never taken performance enhancing drugs and I did not do so on purpose. I am an honest person and not a fraud. I like to win fairly”he initially reported.
The Frenchman then took responsibility for not triple checking: “The punishment should never have been four years.
What I took was not for performance enhancement, just supplements. Just normal things to improve health and it was a shocking moment when I found out I had tested positive.
Had the original four-year ban stood he would have been out of football until 2027, when he would have been 35, and he admitted that “it occurred to me that my career was basically over.
My wife said to me ‘you’ll play again and you’ll get over this’. It was a difficult time, but it helped me grow as a person and learn life lessons.”
??? “I’m a bad loser but I’m not a cheater”
