THE Ivan Kuliak is the Russian gymnast who had appeared at Gymnastics World Cup in Doha with the letter Z on the chest, while for most it was perceived at the time of the awarding of the medals.
The 20-year-old gymnast spoke about this event in the Russian media Russia Todaywhere he stressed that if he had the chance again he would not change his decision, as Z symbolizes victory and peace.
In detail what he said:
“I saw it in our army and I looked at what this symbol means. It turned out to be “for victory” and “for peace”. I just wanted to show my position. As an athlete, I will always fight for victory and I will play for peace. “If I was given the opportunity again, I would not change my decision.”
For its part, the International Gymnastics Federation stated that: “He will ask the Gymnastics Ethics Foundation to initiate disciplinary proceedings against Ivan Kuliak after his shocking behavior.”
