‘Expression session’; salty notes – Surf Origin

by

The war is far from over, and while the world has watched yet another stupid show, things happen in the surfing world.

Currently, I go outside. I’ve taken on mother mode and he just doesn’t want to leave me at all. Therefore, I ask for understanding.

I’m also having trouble ending cycles, and every time something comes up I end up coming back here.

Whether it’s about a stage on the world circuit, absolute Nazaré, or a complaint of aggression, there are several reasons to go with OriginSurf.

With launch scheduled for November, Surfland exceeds 400 million in sales

Surfland, in Garopaba, should “open its doors” in November this year.

With more than 4 thousand sales and 400 million so far, the Surfland venture will have seven buildings: Ferrugem, Rosa, Vermelha, Barra, Ouvidor, Silveira and Siriú. The names are a tribute to the beaches in the region.

In addition to the wave pool, the complex will have a 2,000 m² skatepark, planned by the skateboarding phenomenon Pedro Barros.

Restaurants, gyms, a spa complex, a children’s play area, a surf school, tennis, beach tennis and soccer courts, in addition to a mall and a museum, complete Surfland.

Speaking of pool…

The startup WaveSeg, which was born in Argentina and is consolidating itself today in Brazil, believes it is a viable business model for ventures that aim at surf parks or condominiums and even, why not, a swimming pool open to the public?

“We are currently looking for investors to recreate on a real scale what we have already proven in models and many studies carried out since 2012”, says Omar Modini, founding partner of Waveseg.

real waves

Surfer Tatiana Weston-Webb, who competes for Brazil, won the last stage in Peniche, Portugal. In addition to the Brazilian, the excellent performances of Filipe Toledo and Italo Ferreira took them both to the semifinal heats. Toledo fared better, but was beaten by Griffin Colapinto, who celebrated his first win in a CT stage.

Next stop Bells Beach

Scheduled to take place between the 10th and 20th of April, the next stage of the World Tour will be at Bells Beach in Australia. Legendary and icy waters, Bells is considered a difficult stage, voluminous wave and difficult to read, a pebble in the shoe, let’s say so. It is worth remembering that last year, the Government of Vitória did not allow the world surfing event to be held because of the pandemic. Despite the fact that, in the same period, the famous tennis event took place.

surf and skate

LayBack, by André Barros and Pedro Barros, one of the main names in skateboarding worldwide, will host the closing stage of the WSL Qualifying Series, between April 6th and 10th at Praia Mole, in Santa Catarina.

Among the athletes who will compete are: Sophia Medina, Laura Raupp, Silvana Lima, Alejo Muniz, Ian Gouveia, Thiago Camarão, Franklin Serpa, Raoni Monteiro and Mateus Herdy. And the prize for the winners of the female and male categories is 5 thousand dollars.

Brazilian Big Waves Ocyan Award

Yesterday, 08, the Brazilian Ocyan Big Waves Award took place, which offered workshops with the aim of promoting women’s surfing in big waves. The event was attended by Michaela Fragonese, mother and big wave surfer.

The event was part of the celebrations for International Women’s Day.

“Our purpose is not just about equal opportunities in the award and award categories, we have
with the objective of offering the necessary tools in addition to improving the individual skills of all the guests, also considerably increasing the number of female surfers on days with stronger waves”, says Guilherme Braga, the project’s creator.
