Panathinaikos’ task against Prometheus with “hot” Mitoglou and Yurtseven!

Ergin Ataman’s team now turns its attention to the upcoming derby with Olympiacos in OAKA for the 8th matchday of the Euroleague on Friday, November 8.

The match:

Panathinaikos with five Kalaitzakis, Grand Nan, Mitoglou, Yurtseven, at the moment Prometheus started on the court with Walker, Lountzis, Chrysikopoulos, Ivoudou, Karagiannidis.

The start had a “green” color, since the home team with protagonists Mitoglou, Kalaitzakis and Jurtseven reached a quick 9-0. The Patras team after 11-2 of Panathinaikos ran a separate 5-0 with Ivudou and Walker leading the scoring. Yurtseven continued his excellent performance, having perfect accuracy, at the moment when Kendrick Nunn also entered the equation with the first quarter ending at +11 for the “clover” (24-13).

Explosive start of Prometheus in the second quarter with Hernandez, Chrysikopoulos and Walker running a separate 9-2 for the Patras team, gnawing the difference to -3 (26-23) in the first 3:50. Sloukas and Papapetrou with five points gave Panathinaikos a score after a long time, however both teams were quite misguided from the halfway point of the second period. Prometheus put a lot of pressure on Ergin Ataman’s team, forcing them to make hasty moves, with Karagiannidis and Lountzis keeping Patrinos close to the score, while Yurtseven kept Panathinaikos firmly in the offensive part. However, Prometheus came back from -9 and went to the locker room at -5 with Karagiannidis’ basket for 38-35.

Panathinaikos entered the third quarter with the intention of taking a big lead, as it happened with Mitoglou, Nan and Yurtseven, building a separate 8-0 which brought the “clover” to +13 (46-33). The pace of the match became frantic with the awesome Walker, but also Williams carrying Prometheus in scoring, with Panathinaikos being perfectly accurate from the three-pointer with Mitoglou, Nan, Sloukas and Kalaitzakis, having a… killer 7/7 behind 6.75 helping Ataman’s team to +20 (67-47). The crescendo of the “greens” was stopped by Lorenzo Brown who missed from the corner with the third quarter ending at 70-48.

The score difference allowed Panathinaikos to calm down and take the foot off the gas with the two teams scoring four points each in the first three and a half minutes of the 4th period. Ataman opened the rotation leaving only Hernangometh on the bench, after Moraitis also recorded minutes. Williams and Perry were the ones who tried to gnaw away with their long shot the difference which ended at +25 (92-67).
