Giannakopoulos: “Less unnecessary announcements, more basketball and substance – What is their purpose just before the derby?”

“I was just informed that the Angelopoulos brothers were summoned and testified against me for a case of last July at the EEC committee.

A few days before Friday’s derby between the European Champions and Olympiakos, the EEC Commission decides to initiate (??) a procedure, while the same case is pending at the ASEAD in which the brothers made an additional intervention on October 17!

I am not a lawyer, but how is it possible that the EEC Commission did not know that there is a pending case? Even if we accept that the EEC did not know and randomly chose to call the brothers for testimony a few days before Friday’s match, how is it that the latter did not inform that the case in question has just been heard and the decision is expected at the ASEAD before which the themselves intervened(!);

Finally, how much free time can one have, and for what purposes, to issue an official announcement on such matters, re-igniting comments, tensions and conflicts a few days before Friday’s showdown, even keeping silent in it that the EEC does not have the slightest responsibility for the case in question at the given time?

It is indulgently sad, if not dangerous, instead of dealing with what is happening competitively in the face of such an interesting match to waste ourselves in announcements about extra-competition procedures that have nothing to do with sports.

Constantly both KAE Panathinaikos and I will insist on the strengthening of Greek sports combined with the provision of high spectacle and services for the fans hoping (also in this) to be an example to follow.
