Pitsolis: “I didn’t expect to make such a good time on such a difficult course”

Charalambos Pitsolis was the great winner of the 41st Authentic Marathon, finishing first in Kallimarmaro and in time 2:18:56!

After the end of the race, the triumphant spoke about his great achievement, expressing his great joy at his achievement and stressing that he did not expect to make such a good time on such a difficult and demanding course!

“The truth is that I did not expect to make such a good time on such a difficult course. I was chasing sub 2:30, but I didn’t expect it to happen here. The weather was fantastic, we went through the first half of the race a bit fast and there I said what will happen, but in the end it seemed that I held it well and made this time. Unbelievable! I was watching Panagiotis from afar, I was chasing and at some point I overtook him, as happened in 2022 with Gelaouzos. It is a very difficult achievement to finish first twice in the Classic Marathon”initially stated the big winner, while then he spoke Panagiotis Karaiskoswho finished in second place, saying:

“That’s the beauty of sports. Last year I happened to be the first to wait for Babis, this year the opposite happened. It was a very nice race this year, very fast. 42 days after the individual record I set in Berlin, I did not expect another athlete to be near me. Hats off to Babis. The championship is done with children and work and everything”.
