Amazing Kifissia swallow him Panionio in the derby of the 8th matchday of its B’ Group Super League 2 in Zirineio and rose to first place with 18 points, tied with Kalamata.
Sebastian Leto’s team dominated the match from start to finish and deservedly won 2-1, with big stars Andrea Tetey, who had a goal and an assist, as well as the “demon” Kyriopoulos which made the visitors’ defense up and down.
On the other hand, Panionios, whose best player was the goalkeeper Giannakopoulos and showed for the first time in the league their defensive weaknesses, failed to get into the mood of the match and suffered their first defeat of the season. All he managed to do was reduce thanks to a well-timed penalty shot by Sheba. The next and last matchday for the first round has another big match to play, as it is hosted by Kalamata.
The match:
Kifissia showed their mood early on, as they only threatened in the 20th second, with Diaz’s shot ending up just over the bars of Giannakopoulos.
The match had a very good pace at the start and Panionios immediately responded to the opportunities, with Stoupis’ shot in the 5th minute going impressively away from the Kifisia goalkeeper, Yiannis Nikopolides, under the watchful eye of Panionios’ coach, Antonis Nikopolides, in it the informal duel between father and son.
A few minutes later, specifically in the 12th minute, Kifisia missed a unique opportunity to open the scoring, when Kyriopoulos won the penalty from Stoupis. Manalis took over the execution, but Giannakopoulos parried and temporarily kept the scoreless for the Historian.
However, ten minutes later, what the top scorer of the northern suburbs team failed to do, Tetei did. Simon made the turn from the right and Tettey through the small area gave the home team the lead, with a very nice backheel.
The match turned into a… fight, as from that point onwards the marking became very harsh and unsportsmanlike, with referee Matsuka showing 7 yellow cards until the completion of 45′.
But shortly before the end of the first half, Kyriopoulos, who was terrific for Kifissia and created many problems on the left side of Panioni, made a cross to the second post, Tetei took the header and laid it to Manali, who from his height penalty he did not make a mistake and doubled the goals for his team.
In the second half, the pace dropped sharply, with Kifissia leaving the ball to Panionios and waiting in lower yards. The only thing that did not change was the very hard game of the two teams, who received 8 yellow cards each.
The Reds and Blues couldn’t really threaten, though, with Leto’s side holding on to their lead all too easily without being threatened.
In fact, it was the team that missed the most important opportunities. Initially in the 68′ with Pantelidis, who after a very nice vertical shot by Kyriopoulos came out in a four-a-four, but was defeated by Giannakopoulos.
In the 75th minute, the Greek keeper made yet another terrible intervention, as he jumped up and with great difficulty saved Tettei’s header, keeping Panionios in the match.
The team of Antonis Nicopolidis went up in the end and managed to win a penalty in the 85th minute, which was well executed by Sebas, giving an extra interest in the last minutes of the match.
However, Kifissia defended strongly, swatted away any Panioni charge and held on for a valuable win, moving up to the top of the standings in a tie with Kalamata. Panionios, on the other hand, fell to third place, having one more derby ahead of it, as it is hosted by Kalamata the following matchday.
