1948-49 Washington Capitols: 15-win start

The league was still called the BAA at the time, for the last year before taking its current name. The Capitols entered the season with a 15-0 record, finished 38-22 and reached the finals, but were defeated there by the major league’s first dynasty, namely the Minneapolis Lakers of George Macan.
1993-94 Houston Rockets: 15-win start
