Charitonidis officially joins Panathinaikos

A few days after the “divorce” with the Serbian coach, the “greens” announced the start of their collaboration with Yannis Charitonidis, who until recently was on the bench of Panioni.

The glorious section of the “Finnish girls” after saying goodbye to coach Dragan Nesic, now welcomes coach Giannis Charitonidis who replaces him.

The 46-year-old technician is one of the up-and-coming Greek coaches and until recently was at Panionios, with whom he won the Pre League last season undefeated. The previous year he had been promoted as a coach with the Pine Champions team.

He is the son of former athlete and coach Costas Charitonidis, while he had a rich career as an athlete as he has played successively in: Ari, PAOK, Torgut (Belgium), OPE Rethymnon, Herakles, Lamia, Epikouros, Olympiakos and Ethnikos Alexandroupolis.

In addition, he is 18 times international with the National team.

In a statement on www.pao1908.com, Charitonidis said “It is an honor to be at Panathinaikos and I am happy to join the team. Everything happened very quickly. There is no time for much talk. We have to take Panathinaikos where it needs to go.”
