Useful competition tests for four of our athletes in the next three days at the Cyprus International Table Tennis Friendship Tournament

The International Table Tennis Friendship Tournament 2024 is organized every year by invitation by the All Cyprus Table Tennis Federation and the corresponding Greek table tennis always responds with joy and great competitive spirit.

The 19-year-old Alexandros Madesis of AEK and Stathis Manolopoulos of AS Pera Athens and the 18-year-old Evangelia Meramvelliotaki of Olympiakos and Stella Tzaridou of CHANTH are on the mission.

Head of the mission and responsible for coaching is the federal coach, Christos Lamis.

The matches will be held from Friday until next Sunday at the wonderful facilities of P.O.E.P.A. at the multi-training center “Evangelos Florakis”. This year they also include the team, singles and doubles competitions for men and women, while they are dedicated to the memory of Mikis Herakleous (1944-2024), former champion of Cyprus in table tennis, who with his many years of presence in the sport and in national team offered important services to the progress and development of the sport.

In addition to Cyprus and Greece, Malta, Lebanon, Hungary and Romania are participating in the Friendship Tournament.

Classically, the beginning is done with the team, where each match has the Corbion system, therefore

a team is formed with two athletes. The “host” Cyprus lines up two teams in each category and the countries were divided into two groups.

Men’s Greece is in Group B with Cyprus 2, Hungary and Lebanon. Among the women, it was also drawn in Group B with Lebanon, Romania and Cyprus 2.

For men, Romania, Malta and Cyprus A are in group A and for women Malta, Cyprus A and Hungary.

The program opens at 09:00, the groups are completed on Friday and alongside the goal of many distinctions, the young Greek athletes have the opportunity in Nicosia for useful tests through many matches.

In its post about the tournament, the Pan-Cypriot Federation adds that the head of the national teams of Megalonis will be the national coach, Adrian Simion, that the international referee, Andreas Savva, has been appointed as the referee of the matches, and that the competition will be refereed by Cypriot international referees.
