Korkeakounas: “We were under a lot of pressure in the first twenty minutes”

by

Toni Korkeakunas pointed out that Helsinki were put under a lot of pressure in the first 20 minutes by Panathinaikos, but then his players gained confidence but were unable to get possession despite trying until the last minutes and he expected them to equalize until at the last minute, he praised his goalkeeper and emphasized that he expected them to create more chances.

In detail: “It’s not very easy now that the domestic season is over. We don’t have games very often. Last week we played two matches in Ireland. Panathinaikos put a lot of pressure on us. Until the first 20′ things were clear. As a result of the year, my players gained confidence, they stood well.

When we play in Finland we have more possession. Panathinaikos was a very difficult opponent. I respect, but I do not fear the opponent. My players tried hard until the last minute. I can’t comment on the result, I was waiting until the last minute for the equalizer. Panathinaikos, however, had possession and many opportunities.

I am very satisfied with our goalkeeper, we got him from Utrecht to be here for a long time and today he proved that we did the right thing. This is a condition to play big matches. We could have had more opportunities. I am proud of the 4-5 young players from our academies who played at this level. This is very important, because it means that our academies are doing a very good job.”
