Another MVP appearance in the NBA was made by Giannis Antetokounmpo, who had a triple-double with 42 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists, in the Bucks’ (124-114) victory over the Wizards.
The Greek superstar noted the 51st triple-double of his career, the first with +40 pointsas against Washington he had 42 points (15/24 2-pointers, 12/17 shots), 12 rebounds and 11 assists, while he had 1 block, 4 turnovers and no fouls in 37 minutes of participation.
With this triple double, Giannis tied Michael Jordan’s record for triple doubles with over 35 points! And of course, commenting on this great achievement after the match, he gave an epic line, as he said that “at 40 and drinking a pina colada somewhere in Hawaii, I’m going to tell my wife that me and Jordan did this.”
What he said in detail:
For the achievement: “Great, but I have to go on. When I’m 40 somewhere in Hawaii or the Caribbean and I’m drinking pina coladas and talking to my wife about how tough I was when I played, I can say, “Me and Michael Jordan did this.”
On working with Lillard: “It evolves over time. The more you are with a player, the more you understand them. Our chemistry is amazing so far. We trust each other. We give each other space.”
For the adjustment time needed: “I felt strong, but I had no pace. Sometimes you can play a terrible game and have 30 points. Sometimes you can have a great game and have 20 points, but it’s all about tempo. I felt strong. “I took a couple of days off after the Heat game.”
