In videos, the authenticity of which has not been verified, several lifeless bodies can be seen.
“It all started from challenging the referee’s decision. Supporters invaded the pitch“, an eyewitness told AFP, on condition of anonymity for his safety.
According to the Guinean press, the match was part of a tournament dedicated to the head of the military junta, Mamadi Dubouya, who seized power in a September 2021 coup and has since been named president.
Sports events of this kind have multiplied recently in Guinea, which observers perceive as an attempt to promote a possible candidacy of Mr. Dubouia in the upcoming presidential elections.
