And while everything looked like this year’s Final 4 Euroleague would be hosted in Serbia and Belgrade, the organizing authority decided on Tuesday morning (03/12) to hold the celebration of European basketball in United Arab Emirates!
After months of discussions and meetings, the die was cast and the EuroLeague Basketball shareholder teams decided after a relevant vote – only Olympiacos and Real voted against – to allow the holding of the Final 4 of 2025 in Abu Dhabi!
Given the course so far, which they are carrying out in the top inter-club European event Olympic and the Panathinaikos AKTOR but also in general the dynamics that the two clubs have, it is very likely that we will have at least one – even two, like last year – Greek teams in the UAE the three-day period 23-25 May!
If something like this happens, it is a given that both the fans of the “green” and those of the “red and white” will want to give a thunderous “attendance” to the stands of the impressive “Etihad Arena” of Abu Dhabi, tonnage 18,000 viewers!
A journey, of course, which… escapes from the European borders and which is expected to prove itself enough costly for the Greek fans. Looking at them airline ticket prices (departing from Athens on May 22nd and returning on May 26th), you will see that at the given moment the cheapest is close to at 310 euroswith prices from there on increasing significantly up to the 893 euros!
In fact, the trip in question is also quite time-consuming, as most flights are they have from one stopwith the result that many of them exceed by very “classic” 5 hourswhich is needed for the direct connection between Athens and Abu Dhabi.
From there, as far as hotels are concerned, one can find rooms from 80 euros and upin a place, after all, where housing prices they can… launch!
As the days pass, of course, the prices in all categories for the specific three-day period will change, due to the high demand that will exist, but also due to the fact that many available hotels and flights will be closed.
Let’s remember that the “Etihad Arena” has hosted various events such as UFC and boxing matches, up to friendly games of NBA teams, concerts, Disney events with skating, and even the World Swimming Championships in 2021, for which it was temporarily placed swimming pool on site! There, no our national basketball team also competed in 2023 against USA and Germany in the context of the “blue and white” preparation for the 2023 World Cup.
