Ouzounidis: “Manzios left a very good team – Seriousness and discipline from the first match”

His first statements as his coach Mars did the Marinos Ouzounidis. Speaking to NOVA’s camera, the Greek technician had the best words about him Aki Manzio and the work he did, since he has left a good team without problems as he pointed out.

On his first impressions of his new team: “They are good! It is as I expected. Of course, it’s still the beginning, just a couple of days and I’m also trying to figure out some things, but overall I’m happy to be here!”

On whether he has realized that he has returned to Greece: “I have realized it from the phones. Well I had been quiet for so long, now it started ringing again! It’s fine, though… It’s a decision I made with a clear mind and we’re moving forward.”

For the first image he formed of the soul potential of Mars: “One of the reasons I said yes is because I watched the team and saw that they have good players. It’s a team that has potential. At this point I must also give my congratulations to the previous coach, because I do not come to a team that has problems. On the contrary, I am coming to a team where the previous coach has done a very good job! He has left a very good team and we have to give him credit for that.”

For the fact that the first thing he asked of the Aris players is victories in these types of games, such as the one that preceded with Atromitos and the one that follows with Panserraikos: “In these games the wins are considered within the schedule. You have to earn them. It’s not exactly like that, though, because all teams are tough. They all have potential. You must be serious and disciplined and treat them with great respect. The main thing is this! Just because we have good players and a good team doesn’t mean we are guaranteed to win every game.

What matters to me is that we are strong both competitively and psychologically and that we have a very good balance as a team. This was already there, with the work done by the previous coach. What I have to do is apply my own method, my own way of thinking, as all coaches do.”

Regarding the image he has of Panserraikos and what Aris must do to be able to get the three points in this particular match: “Panserraikos is a good team that likes to play football. From what I’ve seen in the time I’ve been watching them and now that we’ve done the analysis, it’s a team that likes to play. After all, this is the Panserraikos coach’s style and philosophy.

They are a good team with the ball in their possession, so we won’t win the game just by playing the ball, but by what we do when we don’t have the ball. We should then be focused and pressing and with our quality try to make the difference and reach victory.”
