AEK Betsson performed its best this year and set up a direct qualification party for the “16” of the BCL!
In complete control of their home clash with Bonn from the first minute to the last, the Union were impressive in defense and attack, built a double-digit lead from the first period and eventually celebrated the victory with 96-65overturning the 19-point deficit by which they were beaten in Germany to top their group, which means direct qualification in the round of 16 of this year’s event!
Leaders for the Union in the match Hale (18p), Kouseloglou (18pts, 9 rebs), Hump (17π) and Obisi (13 points, 5 rebounds), while for the guests, who played a bad match and will need to play in the play-ins for their qualification to the round of 16, only Fleming stood out, who finished the match with 26 points .

Skordilis scored to put AEK on +20 for the first time, which gave them first place in the group, while the German team continued to… build the basket with missed shots. The visitors finished the first half with 1/18 (!) 3-pointers, just 3 assists and having scored just 7 points in the second quarter, while AEK took advantage of the momentum perfectly, going to the locker room with the emphasis in their favor 50-19!
The second half started with Kouzeloglou scoring back-to-back baskets, reaching 11 personal points and keeping AEK at +31 (54-23), before Fleming stole from Hamp and nailed it for 54-26. THE Hump… he got his blood back and hit a 3-pointer for 57-26, Allegri answered in kind for 59-29, and then some quick AEK offensive choices allowed Bonn to go on a short 7-0 run and reduce to 63-36. THE Flionis provided the solution with a three-pointer, bringing the Union back to +30 (66-36), while the third period ended with the “hot” Hale to do it 70-38 with three points and a foul!
The image of the match did not change even in the fourth and final period. THE FlemingBonn’s only big threat in the match, cut it to 74-43 with his three-pointer, but AEK never lost control and the Grays, Flionis, gave them the biggest margin in their favor in the match (+37, 84-47) ! From that point on, Bonn looked like they had… accepted their fate, with AEK celebrating the big win with 96-65 and to celebrate with her people the direct qualification to the “16” of the BCL!
