Loutsescu: “A championship won by PAOK is equivalent to 10-12 won by a team from Athens”

by

THE Razvan Lucescu it is a big capital for the Romanians and often frequently “plays” in the reports about their national team. It is typical that today (23/12), when the PAOK coach flew to Bucharest for the holidays, journalists were waiting for him at the airport!

So there, he said a lot about 2024, which is leaving in a few days, stressing that it is one of the best years of his career, about whether he thinks about the various suggestionswhich from time to time reach his hands, as in recent months there has been talk of interest from Italy, Turkey and even from Greece, while he also said insults about the Athenian teams!

In detail:

An excellent year has come to an end, perhaps one of the best in my career. This month has been excellent. I had a difficult period in the summer, with many changes and with a total restructuring of the team. It was complexitybut my great satisfaction is that we managed to come back strong. We are again in a very good position in all competitions, aiming to move forward.

The fight for the title is tough. When in a league 4-5 teams are fighting for first place or for European tickets, and there is such intense rivalry, the situation becomes difficult. It is a complex and demanding league. Also, the smaller teams in the relegation zone have the power to take points from the big teams.

This is the story of the Greek league. PAOK is a team from Thessaloniki and Athens teams are always protected. In PAOK there have always been and still are great injustices, hostile refereeing and championships that were lost on the table. And this goes on, but our strength is that we keep fighting…».

Speaking about PAOK’s European challenge, he said:We are back in the Europa League, but we are in the qualification zone for the playoffs. Every match is important. We take each match as it comes».

Asked how he would react if they met FCSB again in the Europa League knockouts, he replied:For now, let’s qualify like everyone else. We’ll see. Until the European matches, we have the games in the league and the Greek Cup. We have to take them one after the other and then think».

And finally, he clarified that he does not want to leave PAOK, noting:I am very emotionally attached there, very connected to this team, to what PAOK means, to the fans. A very deep connection has been made. I am also connected to the boss.

And I think we have always known how to go together against these difficulties and give infinite joy to the people of Thessalonica. A championship won with PAOK is equivalent to 10-12 won by an Athens team, which will always have protection».
