Demosthenes Michalentzakis is in the first place of the world ranking in three competitions

Demosthenes Michalentzakis, “gold” Paralympian of swimming in 2016 in Rio, with the completion of his obligations in the first race of the World Series of swimming in Italy, is at the top of the world rankings in the S8 category, in the 100m. free, at 50m. free, but also at 100m. butterfly.

“Demosthenes is starting to get into competitive rhythms. In his first international race for this year, he showed very positive samples and was present in all the finals of the competitions in which he participated, swimming close to his individual record. He is currently at the top of the world rankings in all three of his races, which gives us a lot of hope for distinctions in the future.

Four national records by Lergio and Lazaridou in the World Series

Alexandros Lergios and Marina Lazaridou set four national records, in the context of the World Swimming Series held in Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy.

Lergios (S5) broke the national records in the 50 and 100m. free, as well as at 50m. butterfly, at the same time that Lazaridou (S9) set a record in the 400m. free juniors.

Lergios covered the 100m. free in 1: 20.08 (previous record his own with 1: 21.66), the 50m. butterfly at 39.03 (his previous with 39.66) and the 50m. free in 36.53 (previous by Tsapatakis from 2016 with 37.57), while Lazaridou had a performance of 5: 54.17 in the 400m. free.

Galogavros is seventh in the R1 category of the European Shooting Championship

Sotiris Galogavros took the seventh place in the category R1 – Men’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 of the European Shooting Championship that is hosted from Tuesday in Hamar, Norway. The only representative of the Greek shooting at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo qualified for the final with the fifth best performance of the qualifiers (612), to finally occupy the seventh place with 139.3p.

Vangelis Kakosaios was left out of the final for only 0.5 points in the R4 category – Mixed 10m Air Rifle Standing SH2. With a performance of 628.4 she took ninth place, as did Katerina Foundoulaki in the R2 category – Women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 (589.0).
