by

Men’s national table tennis took two wins on Wednesday and whatever the last match on Thursday in the first group is definitely finishing at the top and goes with even better conditions in the next phase of the European Championship qualifiers (positions 1-16).

On Wednesday he had to confirm his superiority against Cyprus and Switzerland and made it 3-0 in both the matches. She is in the group with 6 points and, even if she lost in her last game with Latvia, she will finish first.

The action started Wednesday morning for our national team. For the third match he met Cyprus and without pressure prevailed with a 3-0 set. Megalonissos had two athletes known for their presence in the Greek championships. The young Sarpel, who has been strengthening Athena Magoufanas for the last two years in A2, and the experienced Yangou, who has competed in various teams in Greece and has also experienced great awards.

Clearly, however, there is a difference in capacity with the Greek band and the struggle had an undisputed favorite. Only in the third in the game series did Yiannis Sgouropoulos met the resistance, but confirmed in the four sets that he had clearly the first reason. In the other game of the third match, Switzerland was defeated by Latvia with a 3-0 set.

Switzerland was confronted by our National afternoon, also with the air of the big favorite. Whether only five places divide the two teams in the European team rankings, Greece has a prominent superiority and has been left to show it on the table. This was consistently done and re -imposed in the three individual matches.

The defender Konstantinos Angelakis entered the table and faced a similar style athlete, Lois Stoli, who had been in the SEF last year and did training for a while with our internationals. Angelakis knew exactly how to deal with him and either attacked himself or playing with defenses he was better to prevail in the three sets.

The same productive in his game was later by nature striker George Stamatouros. He met Cedric Chanz, who revealed good elements and had strong blows. The Piraeus international, however, was completely ready once again and was imposed on the three sets. He took advantage of his serve and passed quality spin with good movements.

From position 3 Constantine Constantinopoulos continued and ended. He had a very difficult opponent, the explosive Elias Hardmayer, but the right choices and the clear mind in the critical moments helped him reach 3-1. Especially in the third set, where it was found 8-6. He turned the situation with a marginal difference and in the next set he played with great confidence and performed great.
