ESPN officially signed this Friday (4) an agreement with Liga Forte União (LFU) and the Brazilian Football League (Libra) to display, from the first round, all 380 annual matches of Serie B of the Brazilian Championship, the second division of national football.

The contract is valid for three seasons and runs until 2027. The negotiation was advanced by the column. Matches will be offered to subscribers for closed TV channels and streaming through Disney+. The games are starting to be shown this Friday (4).

With 20 teams and representatives from the five Brazilian regions, Serie B brings together some of the most traditional and popular teams in the country. In 2025, the competition will start on April 4, Friday, with the match between Goiás and Amazonas. The 38 rounds of the championship are spread throughout the calendar, scheduled to end on November 22.

“We are very happy with this ad and certainly will offer the sport of the sport a big event, full of tradition and regional rivalries,” says Carlos Maluf, head of sports at The Walt Disney Company Brazil.

The ESPN and Disney+ channels also display the Northeast Cup, Conmebol Libertadores, South American Conmebol, and now Serie B. The 2025 competition repeats the formula used since 2006. There will be 20 teams in the title dispute, with the classification of the first four for the Brazilian Championship Series of 2026.

Already the last four will be demoted to Serie C. Great state classics of Brazilian football are guaranteed in Serie B this year, such as Athletico Paranaense x Coritiba, Goiás vs Vila Nova and Remo x Paysandu, not to mention the regional rivalries.

In addition to ESPN and Disney+, Kwai, Unimpeded and RedeTV! closed agreement. Globo, which exhibited the tournament for 28 years, made a proposal, but she was discarded and is out of the competition.
