Bandis for Light: “The role of athletes and musicians is to inspire”

by

For the role that artists and athletes should play in society, the president of the PSAPP was placed, George Bandison the occasion of the much -talked -about walls of Light For people with disabilities.

The post by George Bandis:

“In modern image society, social media and false patterns, few groups of people have the power to influence young generations as much as musicians and athletes. These are two worlds that look different, but share a lot in common: public exposure, passion, influence and of course responsibility.

When an athlete plays in a full stage or a rapper goes up on stage in front of thousands of fans, they become standards whether they understand it or not. Especially for children and adolescents who are often “looking” in them, words and actions can become a guide. The direction depends on themselves.

The “manuses”, the bumps and the pseudo -wheat are not unusual images on the stadiums. But when the athlete, instead of showing self -restraint, is delivered to his anger, then his image is not in line with responsibility. Because sport is morality, respect and self -restraint.

Can we look a little in the eyes and wonder: When we lose control, what message do we send to the viewers who see us from the platforms or screens and dream of looking like us?

On the other hand, the musician carries another form of power: the words. A verse can stir up, inspire, unite. But it can even divide, promote violence, racism, misogyny or intolerance. The responsibility of the verse is huge.

Artists who write with respect for humans, reflect social concerns and encourage reflection, have the opportunity to change consciousness. Like athletes who do not silence in front of injustice, who choose to talk about issues outside the four lines. They both have great responsibility and the awareness of this impact is precisely responsible.

Sport can teach discipline, cooperation, perseverance. To build characters, to unite communities, to create healthy standards.

Music can heal, give voice to those who do not have, to say truths that are not heard anywhere else. It has the power to join people from different cultures, social strata and ages.

There is an invisible thread that unites the artist and the athlete and this is the influence. With her comes the responsibility. The role of athletes and musicians (artists in general) is not only to have fun or impress, but also to inspire. To build instead of tearing down. To make the reason for our world to change even a little for the better.

Because, in the end, it’s not the goals or views that stay. It’s the imprint you leave to people ».
