“Following the postponement of the Panathinaikos-Olympiakos basketball match of June 4, due to the sad events that took place during the Olympic-Panathinaikos (June 1st) clash at the Peace and Friendship Stadium, I call you at the Athletic Stage.
The government must – and is determined – to preserve the smooth and safe conduct of sports events, the proper functioning of institutions, social cohesion and, above all, the safety of citizens.
Any form of urging, tolerance or concealment of violence, by public placements and by actions and omissions, is not accepted.
The repetition of such phenomena – independently of fault – will lead to the immediate interruption of the championship. We are not going to allow the conversion of sport into a vehicle of division, polarization and organized violence.
It is the duty of all to contribute, immediately and in practice, to the restoration of the elementary athletic class and respect for rules and institutions.
The meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 4 at 15:00, at the Ministry of Education, Religions and Sports.
Its purpose is to put a definitive end to the capital of toxicity.
