Neymar feels muscle discomfort and doesn’t face Argentina

Striker Neymar felt a muscle discomfort in his left thigh and did not join the Brazilian team for this Tuesday’s match (16), against Argentina, in San Juan, for the qualifiers. Brazil is already qualified for the World Cup in Qatar.

The match, which starts at 8:30 pm (Brasilia time), will be broadcast by Globo and SporTV.

As the team is assured of a place in the 2022 World Cup, the Paris Saint-Germain (FRA) player spoke with the national team’s technical committee and chose to preserve himself for the duel against Manchester City, next Wednesday (24), by Champions League.

“After training at the Palmeiras Football Academy this Monday morning (15), athlete Neymar Jr. complained of pain in the adductor region of his left thigh,” said the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation), in note.

“Neymar Jr. reported insecurity with the situation and because there was not enough time to carry out complementary exams, the technical committee chose to preserve the player who will not travel with the Brazilian team’s delegation to San Juan, the venue for Tuesday’s game (16) against Argentina”, completed the confederation.

In the last round, Neymar assisted Lucas Paquetá to score the winning goal over Colombia, by 1-0, in São Paulo, a result that confirmed the presence of the selection in the 2022 World Cup.

Brazil leads the Qualifiers with 34 points, six more than Argentina, second in the Qualifiers.
