“PAOK Mateco announces that Jure Zdovc is taking over the technical leadership of our team for the 2025-26 season. We welcome to the big PAOK family, a flagship figure of European basketball and wish him every success in the difficult and very important work he has to do.
Jurij “Jure” Zdovc was born on December 13, 1966 and has deleted a special route, with great successes, as confirmed by most of the 20 titles he has won as an athlete and coach.
His transition to coaching came almost normally, for an athlete with a high basketball IQ. Starting his career as a coach in the mid -2000s, ZDOVC worked consistently in top clubs, but also in the Slovenian national team, building a reputation as a harsh and just coach, with a particular emphasis on defense and discipline.
He began his coaching career in 2003, as an assistant coach in Krka, to pursue a twenty years, where he worked in 13 teams, in 8 different countries. In two different times he was a coach in the Slovenian national team, which led to 4th place in Eurobasket in 2009, but also to participation in the Mundobasket (2014) and Eurobasket (2015).

The first pages in Jure Zdovc’s rich biography began to be written in the 1980s in his first steps in Olimpija Ljubljana, in the legendary team of his homeland. His achievements were impressive, especially in the next decade, when he made his name known throughout Europe.
