Formula 1 will leave Band and return to Globo. This Friday (11), the Rio station reported that it guaranteed the exclusive rights of the category in Brazil between 2026 and 2028. In April, the column another channel had anticipated that there were negotiations in progress.
By the new agreement, the races will be transmitted in a multiplatform model. By season, at least 15 major awards will be shown live on open TV, while the others will be broadcast at alternative times, as well as passing on SporTV channels and digital platforms of the station, including Globoplay.
For almost four decades, Globo has exhibited Formula 1, but Band took the broadcast rights from 2021, with a valid contract until the end of the 2025 season. Now the category returns to the former broadcaster.
“TV Globo has a long history with Formula 1. Now, she is back home, offering an even richer experience for fans,” said Leonora Bardini, the station’s executive director.
The 2026 calendar provides 24 races, including the São Paulo Grand Prix at the Interlagos Circuit. The season will be historic for the category, with the introduction of 100% sustainable fuels and the debut of new grid teams such as Audi and Cadillac.
